This wine features a nicely developed bouquet, rich with the aromas of coffee, wet wood, dark fruits, animal farm, night flowers, and spices. Its freshness is accentuated by a slightly elevated profile due to VA, enhancing the overall experience. The palate is graced with flavors of fig, sweet tobacco, and dark fruits, complemented by a subtle hint of wet earth. This sophisticated and well-balanced combination of elements creates a delicious tasting experience. The wine skillfully marries complexity with drinkability, making each sip a delightful journey through its evolved character.

With each bottle from this winery, my appreciation deepens, and the 2016 Lacazan is no exception. Offering remarkable value, this wine masterfully balances affordability with sophistication.
Its nose entices with a harmonious blend of red and dark fruits - pomegranate and dark cherries stand out - complemented by hints of coffee, dark chocolate, and an intriguing animalistic touch. The subtle presence of volatile acidity elevates its complexity, introducing a refreshing twist.
On the palate, it's a symphony of flavors - spicy, yet with an underlying delicacy. This wine boasts a juicy texture, enriched by tones of fig, sweet tobacco, and a gentle earthiness. It's structured, flavorful, and closes with a memorable finish.
Truly a gem that brings joy.

Delicious Sousón-based blend. It is complex, structured and intense. Pomegranate, dark cherries, coffee, dark chocolate, fig and sweet tobacco. There is tiny bit of VA for complexity and freshness. Spicy yet delicate and juicy palate. Wonderful.

This review exists only to confirm my previous notes after consuming several bottles. Consistently good. I am glad that I've purchased all the remaining stock of this wine. Now I can slack for as long as I want.

These brats continue to glorify my laziness. Lacazán, a loafer! But I could not resist a bottle from one of my favourite producers. Beautiful, slightly restrained, but still generous. Dark cherry, leather, VA and lots of spices. It's fresh and juicy, with a medium body, well-integrated tannin, and good balance. Flavourful with a nice mix of spices, berries and chalk. Not simple, but it doesn't stand in your way; it's too lazy for that. Besides, every lacazan knows the value of pleasure.
Peixes
Bodegas Peixes is the new project of the 2 guys of Fedellos do Couto, Jesús Olivares and Curro Bareño, outside D.O. Ribeira Sacra, right in the Ourense massif, with vineyards that are exposed to the cold right to the limit where the grapes can have a good ripening. These are some of the highest vineyards in Galicia at 600-850 metres above sea level.
The 60-80 year-old gobelet trained vines grow along sinuous stone terraces. They are field blends of Mencía, Mouraton, Grao Negro, Garnacha Tintorera, Bastardo and Sousón which include 10-15% of white varietals Godello, Dona Blanca, Colgadeira and Palomino. Farming is a mix of organic and sustainable. Jesús and Curro work six hectares themselves, by hand, and with growers who manage a further two hectares. The winemaking is low intervention and constant across their three cuveés: they use whole clusters, long macerations and cool fermentations with indigenous yeasts. Wines are matured in large neutral oak and bottled without fining or filtration.
